ReTuna Mall
About this idea
One municipality in Sweden wanted to be a role model in sustainability and strived for becoming more circular. The idea came to open a mall that had “regular” shops, but with a reused and upcycled range of products. It’s a cooperation between the municipality and the local municipal waste company.
Results
- The business concept is working! In 2018, ReTuna Mall had SEK 11.7 million in sales for recycled products.
- Generated 50 new jobs.
- The adult education conducts its one-year education program “Recycle Design” in the premises.
ReTuna is more than just a marketplace it also aims to be a public educator and today organizes events, workshops, lectures, theme days, and more – all with a focus on sustainability.
And it is a role model that have visits from all over the world.
